Step 1: Create a new epic in Jira Software. There are three ways to create epics in Jira Software, from the Timeline, Backlog, and using the Global Create issue button. When you create an epic, you'll need to enter the following details: Epic name - A short identifier for your epic.
The rule needs to be enabled in order to run. There's a little switch that shows green in the top-right corner when a rule is enabled (when viewing the Rule Details). The rule also has to be configured for the Jira Project (s) where these Epics and Story-level issues are located. You should also look in the Audit Log to see if the rule ran, and
the custom field epic link is restricted to stories (and probably other issue types) and not visible for any sub-issue type. This is configured by default like this. You could manually override this configuration, but I really cannot recommend. Sub-task are linked to parents and not directly to epics. So long. 5. The closest you can get to this, as far as I know, is: Epic | +--Story | +--Sub-Task. To accomplish this, define your Epics and give them each an "Epic Name". Then define your Stories, and within each one select the appropriate Epic within "Epic Link". From each Story, as needed, create any Sub-Tasks.
Roadmap - how can I get my tasks to display dates on the roadmap to show timelines. Tally Brosnan Feb 08, 2022. I have added child tasks to my epic and add start and due dates to both the epic and the tasks but the timeline is not appearing on my dependencies only on the epic. I have enabled linking and I have also added links to my tasks, task
Mar 14, 2017. Hi Dave, You can actually change the name of the Field that will work as an Epic on Agile boards to anything you want, including Feature. The parameter that makes JIRA treat the type as Agile Epic is Description, which says: gh.issue.epic.desc. Here is an example of such setup: The feature’s Points field in Jira Align would sync with the Story Points field on the Jira epic. Note that Jira Align features (Jira epics) have story points in Jira Align that is a rollup of children stories LOE. Jira Align does not sync this field with Jira epics; it syncs the feature’s Points field which is a separate estimate. YhDLnJ.
